Went to see Kickass 2 today with friends, I admit I was mostly hyped up because Jim Carrey was making an appearance in it, I enjoyed the first film but I was almost completely biased for Scott Pilgrim and both films were released around the same time so there was competition at the time, so no matter how well Kick Ass did, I was reluctant to actually love it and only remember certain scenes that impressed me, if I had watched it a second time between then and now, I would most likely actually enjoy it more.
Scenes in Kick Ass 2 should've stirred emotions in me but they didn't and I felt like something had been a let down in the film in order to produce this non-reaction in me, I enjoyed the film overall and the nemesis character genuinely started to irritate me, not only in personality but with his physical appearance as well, I suppose that's a sign that he did the role accurately though.
It's a predictable film which I think is possibly intentional but I didn't have a problem with the predictability of it as it was subtle about it and executed well.
I don't want to give away spoilers in the slightest but I don't feel passionate enough to write more than this about it. It's a good film, but it's not amazingly fantastic and I'm not sure if it's just me and my initial lack of enthusiasm with the first film or not.
