This Christmas Eve has been just a tad stressful, and very tiresome.

Today started off as any other, got up and dressed, went downstairs, fed the cats..and then I realised why I could smell the faeces of my youngest kitten, Baron. It was under my chair, I had rolled it around a bit on the plastic mat under my chair. Fantastic.

After spending some time cleaning my mat outside, I left it to dry and just as I was about to retrieve it, the sky opened and washed it again, how kind. I gave up on it and it is still outside at the moment.

The faeces had dark blood inside the stool and I had seen brighter blood appear in the last few weeks but didn't worry too much about it. This time though, I took a picture and booked an appointment at my vets.

I couldn't carry out with my plans because of this, so I spent some time trying to calm down, relax and think things through. I was also suffering from my anaemia being particularly bad and knew if I didn't get things done sooner than later, I'd be feeling more tired and weak later on in the day.

We took him to the vets and I was prescribed three different kinds of medicine for him to take daily and if it didn't start improving by new years, then I would have to take stool samples once a day for three days before bringing them in and paying £200 for them to be tested on for multiple possible colon problems. I was glad I took a picture of the faeces too.

I did spend £20 of my Christmas money I was specifically instructed to use on myself and not anything else, but it makes me happy to treat my cats to some special treats, toys and in this case, a £10 Reindeer outfit for dogs, but I bought the smallest size available.

My house mate and I went shopping for vegetables as we couldn't get the fresh stuff from the local open farm market as planned any more as it was getting late in the day, and we got what we could, but a lot had been bought by this point sadly, so my new steamer doesn't get as much use as I hoped, and we can't have bubble and squeak on boxing day now either, but that's okay. More of my Christmas money was spent on shopping, not on me, oops.

We got home and I immediately got my eldest and biggest cat, Robin (I did try Zelda at first but it was to big on her) and dressed him in the reindeer outfit. He didn't look amused after I secured it on the front and around his stomach and he left via the cat flap while I was giving Baron his medication.

Not even five minutes later and my house mate notices Robin is sitting outside the front door, without the outfit on. We look around the front and back garden with lights and return without any luck. It then starts to pour down with rain to top it off. I did get a laugh out of it though.

After that, I had to get changed as I'd dirtied my clothes from trying to give medication to a kitten and going outside finding the outfit which I found to be irritating.

I decided it was time to blitz clean a room in the house I had been dying to clean out, it took several hours to do, but I did it and it was a rewarding feeling.

After that though, I had a panic that my monitor had died, it has served me well for 8 years and thankfully it was just the kettle lead that had died, I had recently found one in the room I was cleaning and replaced it. It felt nice for something to go right today.

Zelda decided she wanted to eat the food I had forgotten I had left vulnerable as I thought Baron would eat it, but he obviously didn't. He had most of the medicated food earlier, but I wanted to try and get him to eat the rest as he was playing with the food mats again.

Today doesn't feel finished yet because I still need to make a Christmas card for my boyfriend before I see him tomorrow. I don't care about Christmas for me, but I do care about it for my friends and family. It's a shame it has come so soon and I wish I had more money to have done more towards those less fortunate.
