My advice on how to achieve purple hair.

So some people have been asking me how they can have purple hair and keep it purple for longer than a week or so. I'm not a professional and my hair is all about DIY, I can't afford posh hair products and treatment, so here's my secrets!

So this is how my hair ended up after stumbling upon a way to create a way to make my hair purple and it was still purple by the time I did this too but only partially.

First I used Manic Panic Rockabilly hair dye, then shampooed, conditioned and dried my hair with a hair dryer and using heat protection spray before drying it. (Might be cheaper on Ebay, for the dye I mean. Heat protection spray can be found easily in Boots and Superdrug)

Some vanity if you please:

Although I was tempted to keep it this way, I was adamant that I wanted to try the idea I had, so I bought some Schwarzkopf shocking pink hair dye (Cheaper in supermarkets/boots/superdrug) and the result is as you see above. I used my own shampoo and applied half a sachet of the conditioner that came with it, then dry again with the heat resistant spray too (something I always do.)

In case you're curious, I use Argon oil shampoo and conditioner as I find it treats my hair really well considering how much I dye it too.

If you have dark hair then I recommend using Manic Panic Bleaching kit as it's the kindest I've found and lifts the most (making it blonder/whiter) although if your hair is thick and/or past your shoulders I would recommend buying two kits at least. It's a bit more expensive than the shop stuff, but you're paying for the quality of it. (Might be cheaper on Ebay)

Obviously you can try different dyes to achieve a different shade of purple, I'm curious what a lighter blue would achieve personally. Blue tends to stay in the hair longer/better than other dyes, and I haven't tried a Manic Panic pink dye yet, so I can't say how well that stays, but I do know the Schwarzkopf stays in well for a few weeks at least. The blue can stay in the hair much longer than that without fading.

Hope that helps!
